Good location, good restaurant facilities and staff on the whole excellent. Access to Algonquin Park is good but you have to travel a long way to get to the trails. No real answer to that! Room very well serviced.
There were numerous small defects with the room which we reported. The major concern was the very rundown state of the rooms. We did not think it was reasonable to charge the sort of rates that Deerhurst charges and have the rooms look so rundown and in need of re-furbishment. I gather that it is planned to sell the accommodation and as a consequence there will be a make-over.
The location defintely.
For 18.95 the brunch could offer fresh berries as an optioin with their fruit. Also I am a big fan of eggs benedict and the buffet offering was rather plain - barely toasted muffins and second rate ham instead of peameal bacon. Note: I would pay a premium for it to be better tasting. Nicer softer pillows would also be a good addition.
Enjoyed the facilities, gym, golf and pool. Food was good and the facility was very clean and peaceful.
The ambiance, the Sunday Brunch (fabulous!), the layout of the grounds, the friendly attitude of the staff.
The fact that each item had, along with its own substantial cost, an "amenity fee" added on. Also, there is no path on which to just walk or jog near the resort, because they ae all reserved for golf carts.
Nice sized room, comfortable beds, extra sink ouside of washroom was a nice feature.
We stayed in the main building and found the walls to be paper thin. We hearrd the flush of every toilet in the building and could even hear a neighbour being sick.
One major disappointment - wifi not working. Very inconvenient and disappointing - no apology or offer to move our room into one of the buildings where the wifi was working. Otherwise excellent
the landscape, a combination of foliage, up and down landscape, access to natural water for swimming and recreation, good quality of rooms, equipment and bed/mattresses. and quality of food in the restaurants.
pricey for the small room I stayed in.
The position on the lake in the middle of the forest.
The hotel is charging a premium price for an average quality. We booked two rooms at the same time in one package and found out at check in that they were assigned in exactly opposite ends of the resort. We had to walk about 2km one way to a place that had beach towels in order to use the pool set in front of our building. The activities were not advertised at check in time. When asked about activities staff will hand you a print out sheet.
The Eclipse Restaurant meal was divine.
This box isn't big enough for what we didn't like about Deerhurst. We went for a relaxing weekend. The hotel was overrun with people (which is one thing), the key bit is that the staff couldn't handle the numbers. We sat at the bar in the lounge for 40 minutes without being recognized by staff or served! The noise was inescapable. The resort is promoted as nature/retreat--but there was no library nor quiet space. The coffee and tea and toilet paper are the cheapest you can imagine. Luxury: I think not.
Being away from the city.
They have overcharged us by $296.80
Had a very enjoyable stay , very family oriented, great selection of activities to choose from ... great variety
Starting to look a little "older and worn" in places , staff are polite yet not overly attentive
Dissppointed by room-ambeance/view
We had a great time.
We found the service in the restaurant was not really up to the standard it should be for the price that was being charged. We were neglected
Dinner that has been served for conference mebers at the cost of $45 per person was terrible. No salad, cold soup, pre-cooked entry (small piece of chicken with veggetables), terrible desert and no wine...
I enjoyed the solitude, the nature surroundings and the luxury of the hotel itself. We came for a rest and a rest we had.
When I booked through Booked.net I upgraded to a junior suite and the resort was not informed thus confusion at registration. Also, our room had a defective lock and had to be replaced. It was frustrating to not have access to our room when we wanted.
